Richard Varga

He is historically the most successful Slovak triathlete. He represented Slovakia twice at the Olympic Games, in London 2012 (22nd place) and Rio 2016 (11th place), and also at the first European Games in Baku 2015.

Richard originally took up swimming, where he broke Slovak records as a junior and competed successfully at European and world events, including the Olympic Hopefuls in America. From the age of 19, he started to take up triathlon professionally and has steadily been among the world’s top athletes.

In 2010 he won his first world title in the aquathlon in Budapest. He then defended his title in Auckland in 2012 and dominated in London and Chicago, becoming a four-time world champion.

His top results in the ITU World Series include 1st place at the 2018 Tartu ETU Triathlon European Championship, 4th place at the 2017 Hamilton Island SuperLeague, and 6th place at the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series in Kitzbühel and the 2014 World Cup in Cartagena.

He is historically the fastest swimmer among world triathletes.
